Hola from Tegucigalpa, Honduras! Flat Aubie & Miss Barron are on the equator!

Hello all-star 2nd graders!
I miss you SOOO much! This past week, I traveled all the way to Honduras in South America to work with some orphans. Honduras is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. It is full of millions of children who have no home or family. You should be thankful for everything you have in Auburn and the wonderful opportunities you get at Ogletree!

I stayed at an orphanage for boys about your age. It is in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the capital. The weather was just like spring in Auburn. It was a nice change from the chill in Birmingham! Tegucigalpa has the 2nd most dangerous airport in the WORLD! Wow! The runway for the planes to land is extremely short and surrounded by huge mountains! It is very hard for planes to land there. The pilots have to be specially trained! I am glad our plane was able to land and take off safely!

There is a little boy named Isaac that I sponsor. He is eight years old just like some of you! You will see him in some of the pictures. I got him a remote control Jeep for Christmas and we put Flat Aubie in it one night! Flat Aubie loved helping the people of Honduras. He can't wait to go back!

Missing you all very much! Hope to see you soon! Have a wonderful Christmas break!

The boy on the left is Hosea. On the right is Isaac, his little brother. Hosea is 10 and Isaac is 8.

Isaac is my buddy! One night we put Flat Aubie in his new remote control Jeep! Flat Aubie took it for a spin!

Dear Kayla,

I was SO excited to get Flat Aubie in the mail!! I think he may have gotten a little lost along the way because he just got here a few days ago but was welcomed with lots of love! I have missed Auburn so much since I moved down to Orlando so getting to spend some time with Aubie made me very happy. He had a very busy schedule while he was here. I introduced him to all of my friends and the family that I am living with. Aubie got to help the Taylor's decorate for christmas!  He even help decorate their Florida Gators christmas tree!! Aubie says, "Go Gators!" He also got to spend some time with a gator football player from a long time ago! That is whose Gator helmet Aubie got to take a picture with! Even though Aubie had lots of fun decorating, I think his favorite part of the trip was getting to spend a day out on one of the many lakes in Orlando! Florida is called "The Sunshine State" because it is always sunny and pretty warm which makes great lake weather all year round!! It took him a lot of practice but he finally learned how to water ski!! After his long day on the lake, he got to hangout with me and my friends while we enjoyed some tasty Florida oranges! Thank you so much for sending Aubie to me! You are so lucky to have Miss Barron as your teacher. I love her very much!

War Eagle!! from the Sunshine state,
Sara Pate

Flat Aubie on the go in St. Johns!

Dear Lange,
Thank you for asking me and Uncle Tod to help you with your project. Uncle Tod, Aunt Tina, and Hope (dog) live in St. Johns, Florida close to the St. Johns River! The weather is nice here and Aubie has been on the go. Some people do not know where St. Johns, Florida is. It is close to Jacksonville.

Aubie went to work with Uncle Tod and even sat at his desk. He went boating in the Julington Creek, flew with Uncle Tod on business and met the pilot, played around the pool, took a ride in the Camero, relaxed in the Alabama room, took a night swim, watched a movie with Big Al, and got to see the Auburn vs. Georgia game at the Ale House in Jacksonville!

Thank you fot letting us help with your project! We love you SO much!

Love, Aunt Tina, Uncle Tod, & Hope

A busy day for Flat Aubie in Ennis, Texas

Look out Flat Aubie... its an Acrocanthosaurus!

I went dinosaur track hunting in Georgetown, Texas! There were about 12 tracks in a row! Scientists think these tracks were made by a dinosaur called Acrocanthosaurus, and they say he is 100 million years old! Who knew they had dinosaurs in Texas! I wonder if there were dinosaurs back in Auburn long ago. I took a picture next to a track! I could play a football game in that footprint! Next, we went fossil hunting and we found hundreds of them. I tried to bring some back to Ogletree but they would not let me bring them in my envelope! Texas is a wild place! I'm glad those big dinosaurs are gone! I don't think they would be too happy about a bunch of people walking around on their turf. Hope you enjoy my letter because I enjoyed the trip!

Love,
Flat Aubie

Flat Aubie on the Tombigbee River & testing a T-38 fighter plane!

Will,
We have had such a good time taking Flat Aubie around our town of Columbus, Mississippi. Columbus has about 24,000 people who live here. It is located in northeast Mississippi. Here's what Flat Aubie got to do:
-went to Columbus Air Force base
-sat in a T-38 fighter trainer and saw the cockpit!
-visited our local college, Mississippi University for Women
-saw Tennessee William's home
-went to physical therapy with Thomas!
-saw the Tombigbee River
-visited First Baptist Church on the Columbus historic tour- It was founded in 1821.
-met all of our friends!

As you can see, we had a great time with Flat Aubie! I hope you learned more about our town!
We love you!
CoCo, LiLi, Thomas, and Hannah :)

Flat Aubie gets pampered!

Mrs. Carol took Abby's Flat Aubie to the Biltmore Hotel where he relaxed by the pool and got in a great workout! He got his paws sandy at the beach in Key Biscayne. It was a great escape from the wintry weather here in Auburn! Mrs. Carol said lots of cruise ships leave from Miami. Aubie got to take a picture with the cruise ships behind him. Mrs. Carol's husband is a football coach at the University of Miami. Even though Aubie cheers for Auburn, she thought he might like to visit another school. He got to tailgate with friends and go to the Miami vs. Virginia Tech game with her! He even got to meet Coach Lovett and his secretary. He made friends with the mascot, Sebastian the Ibis! Abby says she is jealous of Flat Aubie because he gets to do all kinds of fun things!

Flat Aubie learns what it's like to *contribute* to our country :)

Greetings from Afghanistan:
Flat Aubie became a member of the family immediately; he arrived late in the evening but the moment he set boots to the floor he was busy body. He started by helping with coverage in the Fire Dept Dispatch Center and then in the morning he went to breakfast to start the rest of his journey. Flat Aubie, helped with truck details in the morning and then he went to visit some of the aircrafts in our locations. He also had to take a small break since he has been on the move since he arrived.
Flat Aubie learned the current location he arrived in is called Jalalabad Air Base, it is small province located in Eastern Afghanistan. In which, the language most spoken in this location is Pashto. However, English what is spoken on this air base. The other name for this location is also known as FOB Fenty, FOB means it is a Forward Operating Base and Fenty is for a Brave Soldier who defended our country. The Fire Dept works hand and hand with the military, to support the mission here. So as you can see Flat Aubie had a lot of work to do.
Flat Aubie seemed to enjoy his travel here in the little time he had. As it can be seen through the pictures he had a full day of work. He was escorted by some of the best firefighters, and he was given the treatment any elite visitor would get. We hope that he will return safely to his owner and show that he was treated well.

                                                          Very Respectfully,
                                   Fenty Fire & Emergency Services

Mmm! Flat Aubie loves Tex Mex!

Dear Lauren,
I am so glad that Flat Aubie was able to come visit me in TEXAS!!! The Lone Star State! When he first got here, Flat Aubie took a picture with the University of Texas flag. UT is the biggest school in Texas! Texas fans say "Hook Em!" Next, we took Flat Aubie to a very popular Tex-Mex restaurant named Gringos. We love this restaurant, especially the queso and guacamole! Flat Aubie was a hit with my family, especially my grandparents!!!

Thank you for sending Flat Aubie to Houston, the 4th biggest city in the United States!

Your friend,
